Daycare Swindlers, 3/18/2010

Every time I see this band I wish that they played longer sets and played more often.  This time I was treated to a slightly longer than average set (just over an hour), and I enjoyed the hell out of it.  In spite of the drunken gals who kept manhandling the CA-14’s I was running at hip-height on the stage lip (ultimately causing me to move the mic’s, mid-set), and in spite of the mosher who, upon having been identified as rowdy by the bouncer, proceeded to whip the security guard’s ass, and perhaps in part because of the latter, I thoroughly enjoyed the show.  For the first time in over ten years of taping I received recognition from the band performing while they were on stage, and they dedicated “Lifeless Corpses” to me, Brian, who “has been taping some of these shows and putting them on the interweb, so you fire that thing up and watch it go.”

I wasn’t able to pull a soundboard feed, but for most of the show I have mixed the sources from two pairs of microphones that I was running (BSC1-K3’s > PS2 > CA-9100 > R-09HR in ORTF and CA-14’s > CA-UGLY > iRiver h120).  As I said, I was worrying about my CA-14’s and about 30min into the set I moved the whole rig, and there is about 10mins of single signal as a result, but I did some crafty fading in post production and it shouldn’t mess up the listenability too much for you.

Unfortunately the band is not on archive.org (though I’m sure they wouldn’t mind being on there—- maybe I should ask them to send in their permission….), but I have the audio recording available for interested parties.
